Samatya Jazz Festival

The Samatya Cymbal and Jazz festival lasts only for 3 days, but don’t get mistaken that life stops here right after the fest. The neighborhood has always been famous for its taverns and raki tables set on the pavements as was the custom of its former Greek and Armenian residents and patrons. When the official concert is over, the Romani musicians show up towards the end of the night to display their honed skills as they do regularly here… The loyal, nameless musicians of Samatya entertaining the regulars.. Despite the soaking rain, raki glasses clinking, the drum banging, the clarinet cheering and people singing along… some even did dance under the rain. Wish you were there : )
